Phillip and I hadn't taken a vacation together since our first honeymoon, which is totally craaaazzyy!! Seriously, ten years...yeah, the madness had to stop. In September we took a little trip, or what would be our second honeymoon up the coast to a small little town called Cambria. It's about five hours up the coast off Hwy 101. We spent a couple days there and let me tell you...it was awe-some. It was a perfect little escape, quiet and relaxing, just what we needed.
*Mind you, this post is like photo overload, be prepared.
Our hotel was right across from the beach and within walking distance to a few restaurants up the street. We took advantage of the walking paths along the beach and the hot tub at the hotel as well.
I had to get a picture of the fireplace. I know, it's silly...but I thought it was fun.
Cambria actually has some great shopping, which we did, and enjoyed seeing the diversity of artists around town. So many talented people, I had to hold back. We did purchase our first ever professional photo from an artist in town, by the name of William LaBrie. He is a nature photographer and his gallery was the first to catch our eye, his photos are majestic and seem to take you to another place. We couldn't resist taking one home. I'll have to post a photo of it later for you all, it's beautiful.
These globes were pretty dang amazing, I posted a video via Instagram if you want to watch,
but I'll also try and post one below.
We thought Lizzie would get a kick out of all the scare crows around town, they were interesting for sure and set on almost on every other street corner.
On our second day, we headed out to Heartz Castle which is about 10 minutes North of Cambria. Phil and I both had never been and we were entranced it's beauty. Truth be told, couldn't stop taking pictures of everything!! (Which you'll find out in a moment). In school, I have had an abundance of Art History and History of Furniture courses, etc., this place really divulged my love for details and architecture. I apologize in advance for the grainy photos, hopefully one day I'll have the chance at owning a better camera, but for now, you get to enjoy the best I could offer. :)
And did I mention earlier about picture overload??.. you've been warned.
I was obsessed with every corner of this place. Yes, every corner and detail. I'm sure I was about the only one taking photos of random stuff like this hallway, pool ladders, and crown molding. I'm tellin' ya.
Black marble, people! I just...I don't know.
And yes, that handsome guy in front too.
He's a keeper.
So were you totally bored? I wasn't. And I don't think you'd be either.
We will definitely be coming back, it's just too good to only see it once.
The eating was good, we stuffed our faces full of lobster
and steak on our last night in town. Mmmm-mmm...good, good stuff people.
We had such a great time and I can't wait to go on another trip together.
XO-
